    In short, replacing the meat industry with a plant based food industry wouldn't solve the environment issues we face, but it would be a huge step...

    Well not sure on huge. A plant disease ie like Dutch elm disease in trees would severely knock food production.

    For example we eat one variety of banana, s problem problem with that variety would be catastrophic.

    Another problem with most vegans, vegetarians and tree huggers in general is that they are opposed to using GM crops, herbicides and pesticides, all three of these would be needed to grow enough crops to support a no meat culture.

    Natural controls would result in massive drop in production resulting in shortages.
