    Inactivity of the board.

Due to the inactivity of the board after the defeat to Huddersfield we are going to be relegated. I know everybody will say that it's easy to blame them with hindsight, but to give ourselves a chance we had to get rid then. It was so obvious from the first half v. Burnley that the players were all looking lost and didn't appear to have a clue what their individual jobs were. That's totally the fault of the manager. How come a side who had won three games all season can suddenly gain eight points out of the last twelve, and two of those games against top teams. It's not 'rocket science'. They were playing for someone who they have respect for and individually and as a team they knew what their jobs were. This side, with the right leadership, should have been comfortably in mid-table. So sad!

In my opinion LB, it goes back much further than the Huddersfield match. This club took the wrong turn when we appointed Pulis.

Spot on Sweeper. He kept us up but ruined us a a spectacle. We would have been better staying with Irvine, getting relegated that season if it came to that. We have had 3 wasted seasons. That said the players should have responded to Pardew better. He gave them the licence to attack if nothing else. How can we play like we did at Liverpool in the cup then be so clueless in other matches? Pardew was a poor appointment but the players need to look at themselves as well.

The same Pulis who is so bad that he has just got Middlesborough in the play offs. Dont be surprised if he brings them up into the Prem. Just watched the match. Different set of players, all busting a gut for him.

Pulis was the right man when we were sinking under Irvine. We had a good second half of the season under him. Then we had 2 seasons where we started well and our form dropped off a cliff alarmingly once we'd hit 40 points. Last season we spent weeks on Everton's tail vying with them for 7th spot. Then we lost 3 nil at Goodison and we finished not 8th but 10th. That's when we should have got rid of Pulis.

This season we started with 7 points out of 9 and he gets a new contract. He didn't win another match.

Agreed, he was def the right man and kept us up. Better going down, well that’s inexplicable to me, because there is never any certainty of ever going up again, no matter who is in charge.

We should though have parted with Pulis before this season.

Your right and who appointed him? for 3 seasons we effectively stood still and didn't invest in the squad because the then Chairman was more interested in setting the club up to sell and make himself a fortune, after Pulis left everyone wanted to see attacking football which is partly why Pardew was brought in he should have gone after the Huddersfield game but JP's mate Jenkins for some inexplicable reason kept him on for another 4 games and that makes it so frustrating now with the recent results , it was interesting the interview Brunt gave on Match Of The Day he said Pardew tried to turn them into something the aren't and Dig Dave have just taken them back to basics.

I refer you to your post 'IF' why did nearly everyone scoff and call me all kinds of b'stard when I pointed this out soon after Pulis was appointed. Do you remember the scene in the story of Pinocchio when all the kids were at Pleasure Island. We had our fun now we must pay, it's where we are at now just when the kids start turning into donkeys...don't laugh Chris it might sound like a donkey braying...then we'll all laugh at you and we will sound the same...you could always count on the way Pulis was going to play...hee haw hee haw hee haw he always played the same.

The first half season was okay and he did a decent job keeping us up. The following season when he got his own players in and his own system we may have picked up points but we were dire to watch. The defensive formation against Villa at home, Villa who could barely put a pass together, saw me hang up my boots as a paying visitor to the shrine, I may have done one more match.
We have ended up going down anyway (probably) and put up with dross on the pitch at the same time.
I'm all for supporting the team through thick and thin but paying to watch Pulis dross was too much.

Pulis went in 2017! Pardew was the wrong appointment by a pathetic Board, and had the pathetic Board got rid of Pardew pre Huddersfield or even after the Barcelona embarrassment, we would be staying up. To get rid of Pardew so late to save peanuts over a chance of staying in the Premiership, is once again scandalous. Whilst, Pulis had to go, the errors all along the way are mainly due to the Board.

If Big Dave were to even continue this success into the next two games, no doubt he will be ignored! So if this were to be the case, and the Board take a gamble on the likes of Mr Brentford or Mr Bristol City, then it ends in tears - who do you blame? The Board!!!

What does Big Dave ( if last two performances are decent ) need to do to get the job? Learn Chinese? Wave a - I love Jenkins flag? Even start fine dining in Italian restaurants to keep this new guy happy ( who puzzles me why he's even here ) ?

Thank you Big Dave for restoring some pride back in the club! You acknowledged once again the great support at Newcastle and almost every of us there responded by giving you a great reception!
