No! you fool you proof-read it wrong.... “They gave Salah the award” then giving it to De Bruyne. Which means they chose Salah rather then De Bruyne.

No! It’s an idiot not proof-reading what has been clearly put needs to go to SpecSavers and get his eyes checked.

I'm sorry but I simply read what you wrote. Perhaps you do not understand what the word "then" means.

It means "after that" or "subsequently". In hindsight it seems you might have meant to use the word "than" which is a word that indicates "in preference to".

I do not wish to appear like an English teacher on my first day and I just read what you wrote. You appear to be a very offensive person calling a total stranger a fool and an idiot. Are there no rules concerning abuse on this forum?

There are Geoff. There are also, apparently, steps Mods follow in this starting with a word in the ear, an admonishment, a warning, short ban, longer ban, even longer ban and finally, a permanent ban.

In the past few months there has been a swathe of "angry young things" who can't spell properly, have poor grammar that is then understood as it has been written. You challenge the poster who then gets verbally abusive as you have purposely misunderstood what he/she wrote. The truth is that the poster knew exactly what he intended to say but the vocabulary used did not convey that intended meaning. Some of these posters were the same person who, at times was having conversations with himself as well as annoying the hell out of the rest of the posters.

BTW - I am a retired English teacher

Steady on G.P...I too am a retired English teacher...of the same vintage as Mr. Amster as it happens. Why on earth would you ‘not wish to appear like an English teacher’? Those leather elbow patches are all the rage...as I hear the young folk say.
Admittedly the ‘spudnick’ chap has a reputation for rudeness and a confusing approach to literacy but don’t go casting aspersions...not on your first day.

What's comical is to refuse to acknowledge a simple mistake or typo. If you meant to type than instead of then, it's ok we get the drift. If you didn't mean to type than and thus made an obvious mistake, it's still ok, because we got the message.
Everyone makes mistakes. But to go on defending an obvious mistake, that's really stupid.

Read what I wrote... which you interpreted it wrong, so you need to get your eyes checked next time.

    Get real....
