As far as I understand it, there was a buy-out clause. As seen in the past, if a club wants a manager they would have gone down that route, even to the extent of staging the buy-out over 2/3 years. So not sure the relevance of the Rafa could not get out of his lucrative deal and why would he leave early without an assurance of another job? It's a no brainer - £6 mill buy-out is peanuts by today's standards. I am perplexed by your line of thought can you expand please.
