“I'm genuinely confused with the obsession with religion on this football forum”

It’s not an obsession, it’s a reflection of fear. The support for Robinson has nothing to do with the man , common criminal, or otherwise. TR is supported by many frightened people , because they feel abandoned, and exposed, and see support for him as a way of mitigating a threat .

You can quote cases, or refute claims all day long , but for every rebuttal, there will be someone else’s negative experience.

Like it or not, employing euphemisms like “ Asians” doesn’t assuage anyone’s fear, and does a distinct disservice to Sikhs, Hindus, Buddhists et al.

I concede that a high level of extravagant urban legend comes into play , but when you listen to the experiences of people like Times journalist Andrew Norfolk who was previously Journalist of The year , it’s hard not to be concerned.

Exactly, when Our football fans are involved in trouble abroad the media always say ''english fans'' they never say European so why don't they stress Pakistan instead of Asian?

The Quilliam report does state that 84% of grooming gangs prosecuted between 2005 and 2017 were Asian and mainly Muslims from Pakistan.Of course the majority of Muslims are peaceful people, but it does highlight where the problem comes from.I know very little about Tommy Robinson, but what he has done in my opinion is highlight the fact that the authorities don't want these trials in the media for fear of anti Islam reprisals.

    So, he was "nobbled" then.

Due procedure was not followed in the haste to bang him up.

Like him or loathe him, he has the same rights as anyone. But there is a deep policy on silencing certain whistle blowers in this country.

There was even some confusion as to what the charge was going to be it seems. The instruction was probably 'lift him and we'll think of an offence later'.
