If I was Rafa I would just sit on my existing contract and run it through till end of season

If he manages to keep us up then we’ll done if we get relegated under Fatty then he only has himself to blame. No decent manager would sign a new contract without any assurances that the Owner wants to improve the team and move forward.

The whole football world knows what Ashley and his puppet Charnley are like

    only one winner........and 2 losers

rafa heads of to pastures new, dignity and managerial reputation fully intact.

ashley appoints another relegation monkey, goodbye sky millions again, the fans get to suffer another few seasons in what ever lower division we end up.

    let the good times roll

I think there's at least 50,000 losers if this is true and Ashley stays true to past form.

After all it wouldnt be the first time Rafa has been rolled by Ashley.....be amazed if he fell for it again like.

would you give a load of money to someone not commited

    I wouldn't

would you buy the missus a new car if she was shagging around and you had heard she would be moving on

save it for the lad willing to commit to the toon

not someone holding a gun to everyones head

    that's not how you negotiate

why not have a clause in it saying
    I will sign a 5 year deal
but I get 40mill this window and an increase of say 15% per season plus the league position bonus and all the extra money from the 4th round on in the cups

    that's negotiating
both parties know where they are and what they need to deliver both on and off the field

In a perfect honest world that would be a good deal but as everyone knows it’s my way or the highway with Ashley he doesn’t do negotiations.
