That one is even worse as it was blatantly a bribe that got it for them because the country is so unsuitable to play football at taht time of the year.

I can see an argument for both staying on the pitch and for walking off, tbh.

On the one hand, if we walk off, the morons have won. Russia would get a fine from FIFA but England-or whichever team it was who walked off-would throw away years of work, the hopes and dreams of the players and fans alike, millions of pounds, etc. Plus, it wouldn't do anything to change the mindset of the people doing it.

But, if they stay on the pitch, then....the morons have won in a different way. It would be as if that sort of abuse didn't matter, ah, just ignore the nasty men with their monkey noises-type response.....is that the sort of thing that can just be ignored without actually handing power to the scum doing it...and almost vindicating those who will argue 'stop being so precious or offended on other people's behalf'?

How to fix it? For a start, FIFA shouldn't throw a team out of the tournament for walking off for racial abuse but, given that that's the case, what stance do you think teams should take?
As me auld Mam said bless her.."Sticks and stones"

Now I know the racism thing in question, never crossed her mind when she said this to me,basically cos it didn't exist in Ashington in the sixties..But I get where she was coming from..Divvint let the bullies (insert bigots) win,the only way to beat them is turn the other cheek/stick two fingers up to the ba5tards,divvint walk off man..Remember the WHOLE world is watching and the tw&ts will be shown up to be what they are, then the sanctions will fall on their team..Simples..

Not strictly true that, is it?
The sticks and stones scenario works for the few but does not work for the majority.

You only have to look at messageboards to see that...and this is just words on a screen arguing against rigged up names.
Even worse on these facebook things or twitter or whatever where people's real identities are on display.

The sticks and stones crowd are generally those that have never been bullied...or rarely bullied enough to warrant any long term issues.
The trouble is, too many people try to hide their emotions due to that sticks and stones thought...yet all they're doing in general is bottling it all up.

Even the bullies are not immune and actually are the worst bottlers in many instances...but the general issue with those people is, they tend to use violence as their release, where the meeker may end their own life or become the opposite of what they were and seek out some kind of retribution.

It's a funny thing and is not easily solved with a sticks and stones approach. Not in this day and age....but definitely a good case for it years ago, on the whole when lifestyle was basically the same for 99% of the population..
