Never tire of watching this
When you watch back that game you do reflect on the fact that that was a high water mark for the Club in this current era, surpassed probably only by beating Aberdeen at Hampden a few weeks later.
MacNamara got flak, of that there is no doubt, BUT, he was heavily criticised in quarters the previous season (culminating in the Scottish Cup Final) , for fielding teams 'susceptible' at the back. Yet he went out and got Calum Morris and Jarek Fojut as soon as that season finished. So he clearly wasn't that daft. Additionally he managed to replace ARob with Townsend, who although not quite of the same quality was more than adequate for the SPL, whilst bringing in 2 mil for the Club. I would say that that 2014/2015 team was one of the best we've had, despite selling two of our best players in that close season.
What the Snake forgot was that when he sold Armstrong, he'd already sold his replacement (Gauld) six months previous. And he then sanctioned the bizarre set up where we punted Townsend, brought in Dixon, dropped Watson, brought in McGowan and then PAID money for a looney young Hun from Killie who they clearly couldn't wait to get rid of. When you think about it our current fate was sealed literally in a 24 hr period. Mental.

My post was tongue in cheek mate but again the acquisitions of Dixon and McGowan weren't exactly frowned upon at the the time.
Townsend going was a weird one as I thought he was a good player but i never really rated Watson so wasn't fussed, was McGowan any better than him? No not really.
Robbie Winters v Andy Goram
Guess who wins...................
A few things from this game. First, the budget that the cheating huns had to get these players in with yet we still beat them. Laudrup, Gascoigne etc. United's desire to hang in there, compete all over the pitch against them was fantastic.
Then there's the usual Sevco diving and cheating when things go wrong. Laudrup trying for a pen in the first half and see Gough at our pen trying to influence Sieb then Pressley with verbals.
Also great to see Negri losing the plot when he can't score v Sieb
A bit more of that desire from the players and we'll be on the way.
If you watched the last clip you'll have seen Charlie Miller in a Zombie shirt. Here he is in Tangerine with a big influence on this match.
Our new Reserve/Youth coach puts in a wee cameo too

A goal in that last clip from one of our new management team. Here's a Derby victory which includes goals from an ex coach and an ex head coach.
