It might seem tedious/annoying/farcical now in the group stages. But in the bigger games, the semi-finals, the final, a wrong decision could mean a team unfairly and cruelly lose the World Cup. With VAR, the chances of someone being robbed in the final is almost completely eliminated.

Imagine if England actually did get to the final, and a sneaky hand ball or a sneaky pull of the shirt meant we didn't score the winning goal, or the opposition was offside but it wasn't flagged. We would be talking about it for years and we would all be heartbroken/furious. VAR would pick that up and justice should be served. So whilst I agree that it is a bit of a farce currently, imagine this situation if VAR wasn't in the tournament and we were robbed of an important goal and then you might change your minds slightly

I'd agree with you if VAR had got every decision right but it simply hasn't.
I'm afraid that injustice is just as likely to happen in any game even though VAR is in operation.

That's very true, our game Vs. Tunisia is a prime example of that

You'd like to think though, in theory, there is more pressure and more riding on the bigger games so these VAR mistake should be happening less and less

I agree, the Ronaldo foul for example, missed with a punch, contacted with an elbow, gets reviewed and he gets a yellow card.

Just what merited the yellow? Either incident would be a red.

Smacks of special treatment to me.

If a ref is poor constantly (ie kettle) then var will be wasted on them. If over the next 2/3 years it improves refereeing then that's another bonus.

Worked well today. Clear mistake by the linesman who'd not realised the German defender had passed it back to a marginally offside Sth Korean forward.

In years gone by Germany probably would have used the get out of jail free card and dodged the bullit.

I'd keep var just for THAT decision against Germany :-)
