It's been a thing with this world cup Rod. Look at the teams that have been knocked out with their so called world class stars.
Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Columbia, they are teams (say the word loosely) that have to play around one person and if that person doesn't perform or decides to be a stupid little stroppy 2yr old (appologies to any 2 yr olds reading this) then they are buggered. The coaches are too scared to drop these so called superstars or sub them, it's those big headed individuals that have cost them their countries exit from the world cup.
The teams that are left, play and react more as a team. Just look at Harry K's reaction when Diers pen went in, wonder if they have filled the crater in on the pitch where he was thumping it yet.

agree with all that - but England still need to find somebody else to score goals if we are to progress - Ali/Lingard/Sterling need to stop *****footing around IMHO and be more direct. UTB

I was coming home past a group of young lads outside the pub singing 'Its coming home..' yesterday, and it struck me that probably none of them have seen the tackle by Moore, or when Lineker scored, or Bobby belting the ball. 30 years of hurt has become 52 with surprising ease...

Hoping we get through, but not with any great confidence. Sweden are a really tough test.

FKB, in reflective mood, possibly as I'm bloody working today and will miss most of the match...

Same here FKB,having to make do with listening to the radio,I am hoping on my drive home from work, that there is hordes of drunken revellers spilling onto the roads celebrating.
