Ashley is a cheapskate compared to other football owners and should have backed Rafa this window.
However I am very uneasy about £50/60 million being paid for average players,I can see it all going t1ts up in the next few years.
It's a vicious circle,TV puts in more money every year and every year transfer prices go up,it's time to put a cap on fees and wages as well as agents fees.

We are right (and yes I will say it, Ashley is right) to not engage in these prices where £30m - £40m is the going rate for an average player....
But....
Rafa isn't asking the earth and we do not demand or expect the earth.
Surely 22yrs after buying big Al for £15m, you would at least expect us to be able to afford players in that price bracket, even if they were nowhere near that quality.
I agree paying £40/50m for average players is a joke but being outspent by the likes of Wolves, Fulham, Huddersfield and Brighton is humiliating, but the fat man couldn’t give a shyte.
Brighton look like spending £20m on some unknown. They are willing to gamble to stay in the prem and realise that often the second season is harder than the first.
What is happening at our club is disgusting. We’ll have spent roughly £10m by this time tomorrow, but have brought in roughly £16/17m. Ashley is just stumbling along relying on a top manager for another season with no plan just a hope for 17th at least.
Just spend the money the club generates.Thats what the slug said.Rafa can have every penny the club generates. Therefore we must have made a loss again last season.
So running costs must have been over 200m.
Fees don't matter to me as long as the team improves and the club moves on.
With him here it won't.
