commenting on the LGBTQ festival
'people should not attend the festival and put all their energy into fighting for better wages......it's time we started recognising that poor people want equality too.....and they are being neglected"
For many years I worked with a gay man is best comment was if you are gay get on with it stop preaching that you are different & get that fecking chip off your shoulder.Great bloke.
Looking for a fight are we patty.
Moi, Monsieur Morgan?
Poor gay, black, Jewish female people are oppressed because they are poor not because of their other characteristics and therefore they fall within the group IBS is concerned with.
Oppression is not an essential characteristic of any of the other groups if they are not also poor.
In the UK in what sense are the following in any way "oppressed"? Ruth Davidson, Stephen Fry, Matthew Parris, Ian McKellen (gay), Lenny Henry, Idris Elba, Naomi Campbell, Paul Bouteng, Trevor Phillips (black), Ralph and David Gold, Jack Cohen, Sir Charles Clore, Baron Danny Finkelstein OBE (Jews).
So the essential component of oppression in modern Britain is poverty and arguably disability. Being gay, black, Jewish or female is totally irrelevant.
You are presumably arguing from a non gay, black, Jewish, female (though possibly disabled) perspective?
Patty, why do you always have to be so insulting? Instead of making ridiculous assumptions about me you might simply address the point: do you consider the people mentioned in my list as "oppressed"? If so why? If they aren't oppressed then surely this is evidence that there being black, gay, Jewish or female is irrelevan in this respect?
