Summer 81. I drove through Cyaak heading to do some deliveries in Macduff, a week later, and was stopped along with everybody else passing through asking if we’d seen anything suspicious a week earlier. The blagger only got away with about £70, as I recall.

Funnily enough I thought of that as I was writing my post.

Strange how half a can of something can stay in your memory this long.

You could dissolve the bodies in Breaker Malt Liquor, that would work.

I don't remember where, Union Grove area or something.

Of course plod didn't have a clue and some weeks later they got round to interviewing my brother who used to hang around in the Rendezvous cafe up that way.

Where were you on the night of the....?

Saturday night...... at that time.......chipper, chatting up the quines there.
Always chatting up the quines in the chipper at that time on a Saturday night.

Anyway, tunred out that the chipper was closed that night for holidays or whatever.

My brother by this time was back at college in Edinburgh.

They went and got him, pulled him out of a class and drove him back up to Aberdeen.

In the back of the car beside a giant bobbie all the way to Aberdeen, he must have been s'hiting himself.

Of course by this time they would just have been happy with an arrest, any arrest.

I'm not sure he ever got over it.
This is beginning to concern me.
I have lived on Holburn St.(above the Malt Mill) and Union Grove and Mrs. Under (before she had the good fortune to meet me) lived on Allan St. Think I'll move to Glasgow.
