Third lowest league attendance this season bar 5 more than our 2nd lowest crowd so far...
As a full time football club in the Scottish Championship with crowds like today. Losses the last financial year of £102,000 plus what’s rumoured to be another big one this year. The BOD’s don’t have an endless supply of money and how on Earth the incredible signing of Stephen Dobbie hasn’t put more bums on seats is beyond me.
I honestly believe the the good people of Dumfries don’t care enough for our fantastic football club and more would rather waste their money following a team that regularly win trophies. ( glory hunters )
What’s wrong with them ?
Third lowest league attendance this season bar 5 more than our 2nd lowest crowd so far...
Sell the stadium and relocate imo.
The place is a dirty pigeon ridden hole stuck in the 1970's.
That is the only way we might suddenly see a surge.
The stadium requires an overhaul...
Agree that the attendance yesterday on one of the mildest November days for years and with no Premiership games being played because of the international break was extremely disappointing. We struggle to get over the 1,200 mark unless the opposition bring 300 or 400 fans to Palmerston - sadly cannot see it improve much unless we go on an unbeaten run that takes up into the top 2 or 3.
It’s plain and simple as far as I’m concerned. Unless we get get extra income from somewhere else then we can’t go on as a full time club on current crowd averages. One things for sure , you’ve had value for money at Palmerston so far this season.
iv been bringing this up for seasons now and keeps getting shot down ,so whats the solution?,queens have stagnated over the last 4 or 5 seasons this is one reason that takes a few fans off the gate ,2. prices of 18 quid ,to the diehard fan that seems ok but to the dumfries public that arnt attending that just isnt appealing 3. the average wage we pay to players isnt too far above the best part time wages and the rest of these part time clubs are in the central belt for us to go part time we would need to pay a top part time wage to attract players plus paying travel expenses ,so we would still make a sizeable loss year on year with these low crowds ,4. you say the board dont have an endless suply of money to pump in ,i fully agree with you and think the current regime have took queens as far as thay can take them ,5. taking any backward step would result in even lower crowds and a better chance of dropping down the leagues ,which brings me to the first point whats the solution to all this to a moving forward thinking fan cause going backwards just aint an option .
The club is in a secure position and is being run by a team of people with no vested interests or ambitions to sell the lease on the football ground to a developer or supermarket chain. The club is in compliance with all of its legal and football obligations and there is no more legacy bad news in the background.
In order for the club to be successful and to continue as a full time entity beyond the coming season, we need the fans help and investment. The budget for this year will show a loss based on current costs and income projections. However, we want to ensure that the club bounces back from these losses at the first opportunity. In order to do this, we need season ticket sales to grow. We need local businesses to invest in the club through sponsorship and corporate membership.
Our Supporters
We need you to buy your season tickets. We need you to encourage friends, colleagues and family to come along to games and to encourage them to come back if they haven’t been for a while. If we could get to the days of 1,000 plus season ticket holders, we would be able to meet all of our obligations and invest further in the team.
To paraphrase the famous speech by John F Kennedy; “it is time for fans to ask not what the club can do for them, but what they can do for the club”.
If you can invest in your season ticket to watch your team and perhaps invest some of your time promoting and helping to run the club, then you will become part of the club’s DNA and the future success. All of us, working together, with common passion and drive to make Queen of the South FC part of the community and something we are all proud to be part of.
The club has lacked continuity over the last few years. For a football club to thrive it needs to be run successfully off the field. In recent years the constant change of staff and short term goals has made this difficult. How can a business understand their customer without customer insight and input? We need to change that; one of our main objectives will be to achieve continuity. Let’s all get behind the club and work towards the positive future and leave the past where it belongs “in the past”.
Be proud, be positive, be Queen of the South.
Truthhurts, - that was one helluva good post sir!
