Thread: How much difference can a manager make?

  1. #11
I really feel for Ardley. A cart load of absolutely crap players and an owner who (at best) is a loose cannon. What hope has the poor bloke got? I also find the situation extremely sad. How has it come to this? Yes I know we all have a fairly good idea but really Notts should not be in this position. Shameful.

When you appoint a manager who had lost 10 of his last 12 games, what do you expect, his confidence has to be shot the same as players when on a losing run.
He can talk the talk for all he likes & say the right things people want to hear, but its results that matter

Ardley has inherited a group of individuals who, if they play out of their skins, are barely good enough. Collectively, they do not gel and the man responsible for this perfect storm of misfits is none other than Kevin Nolan.

I do not blame Alan Hardy in the slightest, Nolan looked a good choice at the time, and so it proved, in the short term, unfortunately, KN’s inexperience in the transfer market led to his downfall.

How do you not blame AH.It was AH that wanted KN to change his style of play.& who fecked up with the Jan transfer window last season

Lets not start blaming our new manager. I think ny now the blame lies entirely with those in the squad who have forgotten the basics of being any kind of footballer let alone professionals. You cant make a silk purse from sows ears. So no it wasnt Kewell's fault, it isnt Ardley's fault, Nolan part to blame as he brought most of the dross in. The main culprets are those who took to the field at the back end of last season and have carried on in the same manner this season. Ship the non performers non cross stoppers. I cant do this level its too low for me, unfit rssoles out. As for Hardy, its his money and we would probably back to a supporters trust without him. He is trying and I hope will continue to do so and try and get this sorry mess out. I cant stop thinking that Tranmere were concentrating more on a cup payout than beating us.

What so Nolan couldn't have signed any defenders at all? No he thought they were good enough but without the midfield cover like Yates they are crap. Talking of midfield wasn't that Nolan who brought in the worst midfield we've had for a long time?

No sorry it was all AH's fault. I feel sorry for the man, I bet he wishes he'd never bothered and left us to go to the wall with the abuse he gets which for all I can see stems from people's hatred of his social media comments. If you don't like them don't look at them, I only ever see them referenced on here. Most clubs, if their chairman gave the manager the best budget in the league, wouldn't be blaming the chairman but here at Notts we're not happy till we've driven everyone away.

Ardley obviously deserves time, but today he failed to select any of Brisley, Duffy, Tootle or Hawkridge, all of whom are obviously in our best xi, and once again played Hewitt out of position. He needs to learn quickly.

If he kept his gob shut,he wouldn't give ammunition for those that hate his social media comments would it? Nolan had players lined up to sign when sacked.AH has the final say on signings.Remember the Spanish striker last season. AH said HE couldn't agree terms with the player. I would want a say if it was my money, wouldn't you?

Correct. He placed Hewitt in the starting 11. That is out of position. And as soon as he learns that, the better we will be

This **** is basically what’s got us into this position. It’s *******s, and we won’t get anywhere until it changes. Exactly the same with people and Duffy.
