Honours degree from Edinburgh uni which sounds useful (and I suppose it looks good on a CV) but honestly I found university to be absolutely grim. Edinburgh in particular had a very laissez faire attitude to study (at least in my chosen degree) and I just couldn't motivate myself and most of the work I did was crammed into the month before exams. With the benefit of hindsight I probably should have changed degree but I came out with OK marks in the end.

I obtained a Masters studing part time over four years which was challenging while working a full time job but I found it far more rewarding and put a lot more into it.

If a company treats you well that goes a long way towards job satisfaction.

I stayed 6 years after my apprenticeship too. The treatment maybe had something to do with it

I am the very definition of slacker.

At school, 7 O grades, A Maths, Arithmetic, Physics, B Engineering Science, Technical drawing, C English and something else (need to check) 2 Highers Bs in Maths and Physics, stayed on to 6th year and phoned it in.

Got made a prefect 5th and 6th year and had a dinner ticket scam going that made me a few bob.

In all honesty, I was a waster at school, hardly studied, hopelessly underachieved and never had any sort of life plan.

Got accepted to RGIT early in 6th year and never bothered my erse after that, then commenced a brief and spectacularly unsuccessful two term flirtation with further education.

Got huckled out of that, drifted around a few jobs, spent time on the dole, drifted into a civil service gig and am now, and have been for some time, at a local managerial level in a peripheral arm of government stuff.

Though I'm content enough with my lot in life currently, I desperately wish I'd found a focus at a young age and stuck in at it.

I can really relate to this post. I never tried a leg, but did fine in exams. How you meant to study for O levels when it was the same time s the world snooker. 10am bbc 2 off we go with David Vine. Did an HNC through day release from the work. Got lucky but applied myself in every job I had. I believe you need a formal qualification these days.
