MillersMad Matchthread - The Millers v Leeds United

History has dictated that to rip the piss out of Leeds on the matchthread but no longer is that necessary after the club went into battle with PizzaHut.

That is all fun but what isn't fun is what's happening at NYS. We all knew that it was going to be difficult this season and we all knew that the likelyhood of us staying up was slim. Can we say that the team has over acheived? Maybe but I think that it's been par for the course for this season so far.
We've won unexpectedly against Derby ans Swansea but we've been vaue for the unpteen draws that we've had and the other wins. In fact we could argur that some of the losses could have been draws and some of the draws could easily have been wins.
We are not doing too badly! When you look at most other clubs in the league and the players that they have then there are a lot more supporters who should be more upset than we are!
Are we losing perspective? I think that we are and like most things when they start going wrong we start looking for scapegaots.
For spending or the lack of it then there is the commitee headed up by TS
For the selection of the team, then there can only be Warny.
For the players, well, unfortunately Vyner is taking all of the blame for everything, every goal and every time we lose it seems to be his fault. Some who don't like to blame a player blame Warne because he's playing him out of position but really?
Can we really fault any of the players individually? We can only blame the club surely! But blame them for what?

What is the club seriously responsible for? Dreaming big? Getting promotion and playing better teams than in League 1?

We are where we are because last season we won the right to be here! Regardless of the money spent, the players signed or the way the team is set up. Everything is as one but picking out one element and making that the reason for everything bad is just wrong!

We are above the relegation places and we can be there at the end of the season. Have we a part to play? After sitting in the North Stand I think that we could do more! We could just go and accept that whatever happens happens and have a laugh anyway, sing a bit more and not get on the players backs.

Once a Miller always a Miller has been the rallying call for ones that have left the club or left us forever but we don't use it for ourselves! We are Millers and will always be Millers! It's not easy sometimes but it is what we are!

Vyner makes mistakes, so do the other players. Vyner is made to look a mug because the midfielder in front of him doesn't help defend when it's needed. Worst culprit is Taylor who still managed sponsors man of he match for our last game whilst Vyner was booed off the pitch.

For all those fans that criticise Vyner, take a good look at match replays to see what I mean.

Jones replaces Vyner today. Looks like 4-5-1 / 4-1-4-1 with Ajayi in defensive midfield. Let's hope that it improves things (although still a quite negative line-up)... only time will tell...

Nice one frog, very well put, I'm one of the very few that actually like young Vyner, he's young athletic and still learning and for me anyway, exactly the type of player we should be looking at to sign permanently.
Anyway, at this level of football I enjoy not just watching us but also the opposition, and looking forward to seeing young Jack Clarke of theirs it could be an interesting afternoon for Mattock, and for some reason I don't feel as fearful as I did when we were playing West Brom, but that could just be because we have so many injuries and illness within the squad that getting anything today would be massive.
Just setting off now so COME ON YOU REDS......UTM.

To be able to appreciate the oposition is difficult whan we're losing and I get that, but like you I can see and enjoy good football but it'd so bloody hard to remove yourself from being a Miller and not wanting to eat.

Fair point - this is a team game - Vyner is also playing out of position as I understand it - more a natural centre back. We know how to get at young players learning the game, don't we?

One weak point could be the new goalie who've they've put straight into the team, yes he's from Real Madrid but it takes time for foreign goalies to get used to British football.
