To have 4 bins you must be paying to have the garden waste brown bin, a service that used to be free ( when it was a green bin)

Rotherham now though have a forthcoming problem with this. In the latest Government strategy on waste they will be bringing out legislation to force councils to collect food waste at the kerbside with no charge. Without introducing yet another bin the logical bin for food waste is the new garden waste bin, but as the Government wants free collection then RMBC will have to stop charging for the garden waste brown bin.

With regard to the pink lid bin it may look only slightly smaller but by volume it is much less capacity than you think. When RMBC did the public consultation on this there was a large majority of respondents against introducing a smaller bin for general waste but RMBC decided to do it anyway. So much for public consultation not unlike brexit.

Also where the smaller bin has been introduced by other councils there’s been widespread dislike and overflowing bins and dumping excess by fly tipping. So RMBC didn’t even take on board other councils failures and experiences
