When was the last time the Hawthorns was a fortress?

    I can't remember, just can't.

Under Pulis in the season before relegation when we had loads of 1-0 and low margin victories.

It followed on ( I think ) from the end of the previous season when we thrashed Chelsea in the final home match.

In that period I never felt like we were going to lose.

That was a good season, couldn't imagine us going down then, looked as though we would stay for good, but then, no one does below the "top 6" (In the monied sense)
How long before that though?....I'm just thinking, hence the post....that we have not been known for being a fortress at home too much since the distant past. 70's under atkinson maybe? how good was our home form then?

I never felt confident of retaining our Premier League status. The season we finished 10th we had 5 points more than the magic 40 and were a massive 25 points off 6th. We were always just one season off getting it wrong to be relegated.

Our home record was W9 D2 L8 so hardly a fortress.

Back in the 70's....I think we were pretty decent at home....such that most didn't want to or like to play us...more a fear factor....but then we won away often as well.....
Not so much a fortress as a solid Hawthorn hedge row.....
