Wolves lost £60M and Cardiff £40M to get promoted. Villa lost more than £50M and didn't. Birmingham lost £40M (part of the losses that have just got them a 9 point deduction).

It's all just complete madness chasing the TV money of the top league that they will just spunk on even more expensive players anyway.

Truly truly mad, the lot of them

Travelled a fair bit up and down over Hadrians wall and further afield watching a certain English club for well over 30 odd years now, these days I’m mainly to be found like last weekend at Garthdee/Inverdee/Glenury or such like, however I will be travelling soon to watch a team that I’ve had many a good time with like minded over the years......a few old Mannie’s but nae phannies tbh.

I'm amazed on a thread devoted to Guff football being pish that this comment has been allowed to pass without closer scrutiny. Standards have slipped.

    My hunch is as follows:-

Misguided devotion to Fergie leads JJ to spend some of that (not-so) hard earned O&G wages on travelling down to Manchester with his chums/mates/fellow bores from the 19th hole to watch the 'Red Devils' at 'The Theatre of Dreams', spending more than a few penfolds in city centre wine bars and on all associated japes that ensue.

    That sounds uncannily accurate.

    You must know him personally.

I’m thinking roughly the same thing, except with Tottenham. ‘Stevie Archibald, mind him like? Do you? Do you? Had a beard, was on top of the pops with Chas n Dave. He played for us as well...’

I think you are close, but Spurs have only recently came back into prominence, too long on the outside for a NE Gloryhunter to stay on the champions League sidelines.

I think it's Arsenal. London club so easier to get the plane down with Crawford, Toby et al. No real dons link but if you're going to be a gloryhunting guffball enthusiast, that doesn't have to always be the case. You can always lie and say it's because they play the most attractive football is why you travel such ludicrous distances to follow a football team you have no link to.

Your carbon footprint must be shameful min
