Fees paid to football agents in South Yorkshire

If that's what we paid agents the club spent more on transfers than some on here want to believe.

It was just another good natured dig at me from Bill Animal.

On the point of why we pay agents they operate a "system" to guarantee their employment and income by getting players to sign agreements with them that all negotiations have to be done by them rather than club to club directly. When clubs say they have been in touch with another club with an offer they mean via an agent.

It wasn't an endorsement at all but as you know some on this board are always accusing the new owners of not spend anything this shows that's not the truth.All clubs use agents and there fees are reflected on the money spent.Personally I think agents should be used less or at least have a fixed rate they can charge a club.As for Sunderland spending 3 million to agents is nothing short of a disgrace but I'm sure there parachute payments softened the blow.

Because if the player has an agent it’s usually the club that pays their fees in a transfer

You know I've always wondered how some of these agreements and rules within football would actually stand up in court , Jean Marc Bosman challenged the status quo and look what happened .

Take the transfer windows for instance , now to me that is a restrictive work practice and challenges your right to move from one employer to another except when the football governing bodies allow you to , twice a year and looking to be only once a year at some point down the road .

I take the point there should always be a transfer deadline which was normally around the end of March for obvious footballing reasons .

The only reason that I can come to regarding transfer windows is for easier administration issues at governing bodies such as the football league .

A player who falls out with his head coach in September can't get away until 5 months later in January .

Nar that's a restrictive work practice and is open to challenge in my opinion .

There can be a nest of agents operating a system where, similar to solicitors where a solicitor will only communicate with another solicitor during disputes, There can be a selling club's agent working fo that club, a player's agent, and an agent acting for the buying club. Luvvly Jubbly. Quids in.
Fee, add ons, length of contract, release clause, wages. It's hard work. Am amazed the do so many on last day of transfer windows. Grafters

Clubs would royally shaft a youngster without an agent
Two way street I'm afraid
Who on here would trust GG for instance if you had to deal with him or his ilk for securing your livelihood
PFA should be providing reps to deal with contracts [for a fee of course]

Gordon Taylor is your man there Ziles to sooart it.

Tha reyt though. These are young lads in their *****/ early twenties, some bright, some average, some a few bob short but good on the pitch and they need protection against exploitation.
Agents are not the answer. It's a bit like calling in Harold Shipman to look after thi mam whose feeling a bit badly.
