The gangsters moll on the side one doesn't sound right to me, sounds like clutching at straws from the rumour mill.

For the brother one, is that the brother of the wife? I still find that difficult to believe. The father of the wife stayed in thr basement at the time of the murder but I wasn't aware of a brother. Why not just go to the brother's home if he was the target. I think the fact that he was targeted on his doorstep is a good indication that they had the man they was looking for...
