It’s times like this that I wonder if Warney knows his best side.

That’s about right Mellow (26) but he cost us today , he wasn’t the only one having a bad game though.

Fans say some stupid things when they get upset but not as stupid as the fan on radio who said he’s had enough and might go watch one of Sheffield clubs nesx season (****ing glory hunter)

Warnes inexperience has shown at times this season and it did again today.
I’m not sure he’s learning or he’s stubborn.
To play Wood was just stupid.
The second half substitutions were imo not made with any real game management.
We know your proud of the players Warne and yes they and you have done well for the most part but please change the record.
Today’s second half performance was terrible and 2 blokes near us chinning each other didn’t help.
League 1 here we come again.

I said " I told you so" referring to my previous comments about Wood. I have said repeatedly that Wood is not good enough for this level and that chicken would come home to roost one day. That day was today.

The main reason we went down was because Tony Stewart didn't give us the opportunity to do so, by not investing in the transfer market.

What makes it more bizarre Brin, is that I posted my opinion on why we went down, about under investment, a week ago and you replied agreeing to it ( it was the Blow Monkey's "it didn't have to be this way" post)

So calm down. I am not blaming Wood for our relegation. I am pointing out that he is not good enough at this level. Today answered that question beyond all doubt.
IBS, I duly note your points, however, when this thread is all about 'Birmingham City post match thoughts' meaning an OVERALL view of the game and you post

"I don't want to say "I told you so" Richard Wood, to me it came across as an attack on a singular player. Maybe you could have brought this up on a separate post explaining your ''I told you so'' point. Just a thought.

Do enjoy your evening although we all know our evening has been affected by today's result(s)

I hope Middlesbrough at home is the last time I see Ajayi in a Rotherham shirt. A complete and utter liability. I hope we can cash in.

Personally, I've thoroughly enjoyed this season. Its turned out exactly as I'd expected it to back in August. Difference between this season and two years ago is that we've had a real go at it. Two years ago I had the feeling that we would lose before going to every home game. Not so this season.

Where the team lacks skill we have made up for in effort and energy, but it just wasn't enough. No team, IMO, have put greater shifts in than us. That said, guts and effort don't win games.

Should Stewart have spent in Jan? Absolutely not. Not even two or three multi million pound signings would have been enough. It would have just upset the apple-cart in the dressing room.

I am significantly more confident on an immediate return to this division than I was last time we got relegated.

As a side note, next season could well see us as the lowest placed South Yorkshire club. Now there's a thought...

Herbie, correct with the lowest placed because alphabetically Barnsley, then Docaster and Rotherham would be in that order in a league table before a ball is kicked next season, that's assuming Barnsley and Donny don't get promoted.

Fair enough Brin. On reflection I could have worded it better.

Wood had a nightmare today. But we would have lost anyway. We were awful all over the park.

Like you I am just frustrated that we didn't give ourselves the best chance of stopping up by investing in January. Yes it might not have come off. Yes the players we bought in might not have measured up but what if we had taken a chance on a non-league prospect or a Belgian 3rd division striker and they had delivered.

We didn't give ourselves that chance because we didn't bring anyone in.

I'm with you all the way on this. We've never asked for or expected a £1,000,000 player(s) but at least someone who MAY have brought new impetus into our side. Who gets the blame for that? The recruitment guy, Warne or Stewart? OR EVEN ALL THREE?

Brin, even if the new arrivals were squad players it might have given the regulars something to think about and keep them on their toes.

    Indeed, but too late now.

Yes it is. On another thread I asked what was the most painful relegation. For me it was the Stubbs season because it felt we were relegated from about 4 games in to the season. It was an agonising slow death.

This might not be as painful but it has to be the most frustrating relegation I have witnessed.
