I'm hoping we don't go up via the play offs..... I'd be totally embarrassed...going up in 2nd place is a total minter and will be looked upon in 50 years time as a total underachievement.... While the Doon derby will still be the FUN's biggest trophy

It's akin to the teams that win the champions league without actually having won the league in their own country ...total minter and they should be embarrassed to even lift the trophy.

I will never forget coming home from Hampden in 1991 after yet another defeat to find my Funster mates i played football with had left a couple of messages on my answer machine, although none of them had witnessed a big cup win in their lifetime they still rejoiced in United's failure to complete the treble at Hampden that day.
Its funny how history can come back and bite you on the erse though as United beat Motherwell in the 4th round replay at Fir park 1-0 before finally ending the hoodoo versus the all conquering Glasgow Rangers(RIP)and denying them a double treble,FACT.The phone calls i received on Saturday the 18th of May 1991 were a very distant memory but have been resurrected by a Sportscene programme i have just watched,it showed a much, much, much poorer Motherwell playing with TEN men inflicting the same 4-3 scoreline on the team of my friends from the early 90's.
The big difference between two identical results is there for all to see,Dundee United had just lost their sixth Scottish Cup Final but had won 24 ties to get there whereas Dundee FC broke a Premiership record by losing 9 games on the trot,FACT.

Indeed GB, when we won the big cup that year, we put out that eras giant killers Airdrie, (finalists in 92 and 95), Motherwell as mentioned who finished 3rd and had put Celtic out the previous rd, then Aberdeen in the semi final who finished 2nd and then of course ended champions Rangers double treble hopes in the final in glorious sunshine

Not to sidetrack your point, good to have you back posting and swording the dees

Thank you mate and i am sure you would also agree that Jim Delahunt fae the Sun is the worst tipster since the big bang but credit where credit is due he has encouraged punters to back against the Fun for nine games in a row,FACT.

Further away and for a dead rubber whilst the Fun are supposed to be fighting for their lives - definitely comparable ;-)

Had a wee peek and jeez that is some meltdown on their boards. Best bit is the spinmeister himself Cobra is trying to reassure everyone that relegation is all good.
