Nowt will ever beat 96/97 because of the enormity of the achievement , style of football and lack of budget .

1978/79 will always have a place in my heart because it was my first taste of success following the club .

1980/81 was special too because of the sheer quality of our players .

I'm still trying to work out how we managed the play off victories in 2006 and 2016 , the 2006 side were poor on quality but had a spirit and a huge slice of fortune , the 2016 team came from the worst team in the league to the best in a matter of months , unbelievable .

This current crop will always have a special place in my heart , Stendel is such a likeable character , the players run their blood to water and have played some terrific football breaking a number of club records .

I'm slightly cautious these days because I feel these days our success seems to be the end of something rather than the beginning of a new successful era .

78 79 was special after years in the doldrums and 80 81 was pure magic with the Glavin era.

    Great statement from Animal

"Our success seems to be the end of something rather than the beginning of a new successful era ."

That is always the fear with our best players been cherry picked by bigger Championship clubs who can pay much bigger wages.

All I can hope is the new owners will ensure that we are in control of who and when we sell. It's inevitable we will lose players but it's the regularity and replacements that's the key to our Championship survival and prosperity, it can be done, look at Brentford.

Agree. There's more than a hint of trepidation about this summer for me personally because I know we'll most likely be losing our best players. Its the quality of replacement we bring in that is the key. Without sounding like a doom monger it's almost overpowering the feeling of elation promotion should bring, probably because this is an on going issue I've had. Maybe for me promotion hasn't quite sunk in yet, I don't know, I have mixed emotions.

Of course we accept that quality players will move on and good luck to them. However, as we saw 2 years ago, the Championship is different gravy to league 1 in terms of bedding new players in, especially with our recruitment policy and you'd hope that lessons have been learned from our previous relegation. Having said that, our Championship status gives us far more Television cash and in terms of signing players, the Championship offers a much bigger stage and appeal to any targeted recruits than if the club was still in league 1.

Feck it ennyrooard, am gonna enjoy this weekend first and toast a few beers to Stendel and his boys
