HS2 is a London upgrade, there’s no intention to build the northern section.
The £350 million figure was a lie, BigLadon. A transparent lie, but a lie nonetheless.
I've not looked at the arguments for and against HS2 in detail, but building infrastructure is generally a good idea.
The government did not pay off the banks' debts. It recapitalised them in order to address their liquidity issues and took a stake in them in return. Sure, they could have been allowed to fail and we could have reverted to barter.
You posted eight minutes before I said that the £350m figure was a lie… How could your post have been aimed at that?
The £350m was a lie, because it represents the UK's gross contribution to the EU not the net contribution. In other words, it grossly over estimates the cost of EU membership. In addition, it doesn't take into account the likely shrinking of the UK economy that would follow from Brexit.
Have you not noticed that people involved in the leave campaigns have all sought to distance themselves from the claim?
What time is it with you?
In 2017 the U.K. net contribution to the EU was £8.9 billion
Going for a beer now, Zyles.
Take a squiz at this while I have gone:

You asked if there was something specific I wanted you to reply to, which I said yes there was, but the £350 million wasn't it
Isn't it awful when you play around with words?
