Interesting, predictable and ultimately depressing voting which only emphasises the huge split in the country. I think we can safely assume that all ardent remain and lhard eave passionates voted. And after everything we seem to have a 3 way split in the country, and those for these two extremes and then the other 3rd who are inbetween.

So where from here? We can assume a hard brexiter will assume control and attempt a harder brexit which again will fall on parliamentary arithmetic or go for no deal. If he tries that, what might happen? Obviously many on here think we'll follow that default but with 2/3s of the country actively against this outcome (demonstrated by voting patterns) and this reflected in parliament, I think it will be blocked. How? I'd guess that the moderate tories would join the rest in voting for a general election and then either Labour will finally declare for remain (at least they can say they tried to gain a compromise!) or a Remain Allience will form.

Agree with the general point that voters are protesting against the 2 main parties. I voted Lib Dem, inspired by Garage's gurning mug) and wife for greens. Rest of family split between these, all left Labour on this occasion. Definitely a protest led election.

The result last night shows that the country is still very divided by the Brexit issue and if you did add all the remain together it would come out at roughly 48 v 52 the other way ( to hear remainers talk) that means that the will of the people clearly shows we dont want to leave the EU! If that is what they are actually saying does that mean the remainers will be happy to throw the 48% under the bus and just stay or will those same remainers still want it to go back to the public for a final vote.

I know exactly what they will say lol.

Take a look at the map of the UK on this link, and further down how the BBC manages to manipulate a bar graph to tell their own agenda.

Rotherham voted leave even if you added all the remain votes together.

As raging points out the country is irretrievably split. If a Tory leader pushes ahead with a No Deal without seeking a second vote and the economy then nosedives the sh*t will seriously hit the fan. Nobody is listening to sense. For example people ignore the very real problem that after 40 years of the EU doing our trade negotiations the UK does not have the expertise to take them on by itself. I expect the Scots to go, major renewed troubles in NI and a run on the £. But at least we'll have the fishing industry back!!!

I think you that you will find that we already have deals sorted out if the outcome is No Deal.

    https://www.gov.uk/guidance/signed-u...ed-from-the-eu

And there are more in discussion with at least 25 of those ready to carry on on the same deal they have with the EU

88% of the UK trade deals are done outside the EU.

There are also negotiations going on with countries we do not already trade with from either internally (via the EU) or externally (on our own)

All the trade in the world that the UK does LESS than 12% of it is reliant on EU participation as we stand today. So the argument that business will collapse is total and utter garbage.

I'm asking myself why the Labour leader has not followed May out of the door as a consequence of this debacle .

The man has his fingerprints on this due to the failed negotiations with the government recently and his position of following the fairest wind in an attempt to get the keys to number 10 , he'd have sold every leaver down the river to become PM , tell me I'm wrong .

Labour haven't a prayer of winning the next election with Corbyn and a majority government , not a hope .

His time has come and gone , clear as day .

When are the Labour membership going to wake up , grow a pair and expose the elephant in the room ? .

Johnson can beat Corbyn in a GE , see it a mile away .
