I have no idea what life was like without lawyers. I'm not that old. My guess is that the concept of justice wasn't as developed as it is today.

I've seen a number of people make a complete horlicks out of representing themselves. It's painful to watch at times. I've also seen people succeed in simple cases.

BBC though, ad free and great stuuff like Killing Eve, Luthor and the like, meh.
But people choose to have their wallets ripped out through their backside.

I'm surprised you didn't have some sort of interest in the legal trade before you decided to be part of it! And yes I know you are not 4 or 500 years old you sarky one!

Aha! Slipped up there Mr Kerr. Could the power of Mr Murdoch have anything to do with people parting with their hard earned cash do you reckon or was it just a passive thing? Why were people conned? Don't come out with "it was just their choice" argument by the way. People are influenced to make choices. When you go and buy a new TV you dont just think I'll have that one it looks ok.

Surely none of us are passive consumers. We are sold the dream. Its how capitalism works.

Why can't I come out with the "it was just their choice" argument, when it clearly is.

Rupert Murdoch may not be your cup of tea (he isn't mine either), but he doesn't make people sign up to the services provided by his companies and nor am I aware of anything to suggest that people have been conned, as you suggest.

If people want to buy into the dream of being able to watch of Burnley v Southampton on a Monday evening then it's their choice - nobody elses.

Of course people are influenced to make choices, but they don't have to do it.

For my part, it is beyond me why Lineker is paid the sum that he is. In my opinion, he's perfectly competent and can be informative and funny, but I wouldn't miss him if he were not on. Others may disagree.
Lineker works for Walkers and BT Sport as well, would hardly be unemployed and potless if the BBC let him go.

I suspect he's favoured by the BBC hierarchy because of his Twitter remoaning and social justice campaigning.

You underestimate the power of persuasion Mr Kerr. Surely in your working life you need to be persuasive. What makes Burnley v Southampton persuasive?

No-one is going to stop watching Match of the Day if Gary Lineker isn't on it, except maybe Gary Lineker's relatives.
