We might in NATO too. At the heart of the security element of the Lisbon Treaty is the notion of mutual defence (Article 42.7 of the treaty). That's exactly the same principle that NATO is based on (see Article 5 of the Washington declaration).
2,. Who would this army take orders from? When the British Army is under NATO command it takes orders from NATO. One assumes that a similar principle would apply to an operation under EU command.
3, How would the army work together with so many language barriers? In NATO, German soldiers speak German, Spanish soldiers speak Spanish and so it goes on. They don't all become multilingual in a way that they wouldn't in the EU.
I don't see a European military force as
being either desirable or necessary, but you are persisting in making a bum point.
