Why not?
If its the most likely way to get anything out of SevCo, add value on Newcastle's books which may in a small way help any potential sale.
At the same time it screws SevCo out of what is perceived to be their biggest asset (reported from Traynor at least). Ashley may indeed enjoy sticking the proverbial middle finger up at SevCo.

Apparently Milne Homes lost a court battle with Soapy Titwank and son bricklayers over a breach of contract. Milne has agreed to send Stevie May to do a few shifts for them as payment.

SevCo would be laughing if they cleared that debt and only lost Alfred. Surely if its in the courts they would make sure ashleigh got his cash no matter if they said they could afford it or not.
