Thread: East Fife

Biggest offenders for me tonight were Stanton and Clark. Not just anonymous, they actually gave the ball away ALL THE TIME. It lead to all our problems IMHO. I have no idea what Robbie sees in any of them.

Sometimes you watch a game of football and wonder what on earth the plan was. What did Neilson set them up to do? Worse still, we don't seem to know how to change it. Wrong to single players out, far too many played poorly for that. Would question persevering with two wingers in a game neither were getting a look in. Don't understand the hate of Clark though. Actually feel sorry for him. Close to being our top scorer last year after missing 3-4 months of the season. Playing players out of position can't possibly bring best out of them. Even got moved to left midfield tonight.
Poor performance across the board, tactics were non existent too though. Responsibility shared in my book.

Robbie needs to take a good look at himself. I want him to be successful bt time and time again he continues to make baffling subs and appears to be unable to motivate the players with negative tactics.

2-0 down, Robson on for Sporle when our midfield had clearly lost that battle, and we have our new midfield signing King sitting on the bench. How good must he be!! 😳

I made it the 81st minute before McMullan picked out a United player. Thought Clark and Stanton, although not good, actually looked to get on the ball and were the only two to ever switch the play quickly. Think everyone will pick out their least favourite players to blame after a game like that

Only pass marks are for me were Shankland and Appere when he came on

Everyone else poor on the night, especially the imposter that is Clark, what he offers or brings to the team I'll never know, he is exactly as Dunfermline fans described, lazy and misses when it matters, like a man down, why he is favoured over Cammy Smith, would much rather McMullan played central too

Connolly is better than Watson at centre back, that is clear, he was missed tonight, I don't like the thought of Stanton as one of he CMs, far to weak when he is there, we miss Harkes in beside Butcher

We definitely still need a centre back to challenge Reynolds/Connolly and definitely need a striker as Clark is not good enough

Put it this way if we ever put in a performance like that against Inverness or even the fun (we were worse than Cove or Peterhead tonight I'm certain) then we'll get beat comfortably

Neilson has to sort a lot out in the next 11 days before the big kick off, getting the best XI on the park for a start, why is Stanton who couldn't get a look in playing over Harkes who part of the reason we improved etc, why is Clark who offers nothing playing so much

On another note, first experience of Tannadice went just the gf open, awful, hope the East is ready for the ICT game, and well played East Fife, deserved, although we were a joke.
Would also stress the need for a winger. Never have I seen a winger attempt as many crosses as McMullan did tonight and fail to find a player with everyone.

I don't get the defence of Clark, he simply offers nothing at all really, not for a team with aspirations on winning the league, maybe at best as a back up off the bench... half his goals were pens or against poor teams in the betfred or Alloa at home, not big goals unless it was a pen, he missed when it mattered otherwise and is lazy

Safranko was much better scorer last season taking that into account and scored against the better teams too regular

Hard to influence a game when you are playing in a position that does not play to your strengths. Clark's goals were very important in us ultimately securing second last season, after our negativity cost us a chance of first. A front two of Shankland and Clark would offer a serious threat. Clark has scored goals everywhere he has been and all I'm saying is I would like to see him get a chance to play his natural position before I write him off. Agree Safranko offered a lot, with effort in particular, but was far from prolific with a huge number more opportunities.

Yet, Sow gets pelters all the time as well despite he actually rarely gives the ball away and gives an ‘out’ option for defenders. Clark should be an impact subbie from the bench. Never, ever a starter.

I totally agree, especially in that position. Frustrating.

Folk don't see that though, they see Sow as a big lumbering lazy bassa that doesn't appear to give a fk.

Admittedly he hasn't been that great up until now but I put that down to injury and fitness rather than ability or lack of endeavour.

Would really like to see what a Shankland /Sow combo could do but unfortunately I don't think it will happen if reports of Sow being asked to leave are true.
