There's nobody with a bit of dosh who will come out badly with this Exile. The only ones who will suffer whatever the outcome will be the ordinary bod but hasn't that always been the case?

Although the problem is not about technology. Its about the legal status of the border. It is either a hard border (meaning goods are stopped for clearing) or a free border (goods pass through with no checks).

Be interested to see the solution if we leave in Oct without a deal. We will have third party status (ie trading with the EU under WTO terms). If the EU allow the Irish border duty free status they will have to do the same for every country that trades with them under WTO terms. Cant see it happening.

This, surely, is evidence of cloud cuckoo land - unless I have missed something.

I think the ROI have come to realise that they are being used as a **** for the EU and that the EU would not care how damaging it will be for the ROI if we left with no deal. I think they would seriously consider coming out of the EU themselves if that were the case as the EU would have to make concessions or risk causing problems over the hard border and if that happens it would show them up not to be the caring Europe they are supposed to represent.

Would the EU really want to cause problems that could result in hostilities starting again just so they could prove a point? Actually I think they would be willing to risk it.

I think ROI realise the truth - they are being shafted by Brexiteers to realise their own ideological beliefs.

How do you manage to import from non EU countries without having difficulties with borders?

I have to say that you are way off target with that remark mate and if you have not already left the UK you should do so as quick as you possibly can.
