I'd sooner us reform as A.F.C Notts County than have that man as our owner. Ask the PV lads for their opinion of him.
Slowly, but surely, Poppa Smurth looks to be edging closer to jumping in at admin stage. Always thought this was the likely outcome.
Means will be saddled with an owner who was universally hated at his old club, but could be looked upon more favourably here due to the fact he took us on in admin.
The section about the current share in Port Vale is interesting. He’s obviously sounded out the National League if he can buy us in admin, but looks like he’ll be blocked if we go up?

I'm with Gumpeh. He won't be the only one wanting us if we go into admin, he's just trying to raise his profile in preparation for that process.
Oh and I don't know why the local press are even giving him a voice.
They did the same with Reg Brealey
I don't know why Smurthwaite has been given column inches. Honesty it beggars belief after what the Port Vale fans have said that he would even be entertained or considered by anyone.
I don't even want to go into possible scenarios but what would happen if Notts did survive and somehow got promoted back to the football league within the next three seasons as he's got ties to Port Vale for 3 years so can't have interest in two league clubs?
So surely at best we would be signing up to at least three seasons in the National League.
At first when spotted regularly in the Derek Pavis Stand Smurthwaite said he 'wasn't interested' in buying Notts, that he just liked to take a game in and for security reasons he couldn't attend at Port Vale.
Zoom forward and he says's he's 'interested, but won't pay "that man" a penny' for the club.
Now he says he's interested but discloses he still owns part of another League club and so may not be able to (at least in the Football League).
Respect to the Vale fans for stating exactly what kind of owner he is. It's pretty evident what type of man he is just by his deceit regarding Notts County even at this stage.
Genuinely, you poor bästards.
Good luck.
"He revealed that he still has a financial investment in the club for the next three years which prohibits him from buying another Football League club."
Is *******s, btw.
Our wonderful new owners were ripped off for an obscene price to buy the club and ground, in their own words on purchase day, "the hostage has been released." The ground belongs to them but is being paid off over three years. His so called "investment" is just a routine security over it. He'll never be able to cash it in. The docs are on CH.
