Thread: Asghar statement

  1. #11
bit of an arsey statement IMO

Losing to East fife in that manner is unacceptable and the support have every right to criticise as there looks to be zero change to the team, tactics and formation and this is a major concern to all supporters and i would have thought a major to the club?

Perhaps, but the full time teams have the advantage over the part time teams - so not all teams are on a level playing field.

All the clubs have players returning to match fitness etc ( which is an even bigger problem for the part time teams ) - so any excuses being reeled out won't cut it.

I believe one of the reasons for the early start of the cup competition was to introduce some summer football - which I am all in favour of.

Finally, Aberdeen, Celtic and Rangers have all been playing in Europe - yet some people offer up excuses of the cup competition being too soon for the players . This makes East Fife's result even more impressive considering they are part time .

I don't see the problem, there is a lot of truth in what he says, the new regime and manager deserve a lot of patience compared to staff they took over... They shouldn't have to feel the leftover negative feelings that the prior 3 years had built up and I'd rather this than nothing, fair play to him imo

At the sametime, losing at home to East Fife is the worst single result I can remember as they are a third tier side and deserved to beat us, it will never be acceptable regardless of the timing of the match, it's a humiliation and slap in the face, it must be something that we make sure we are looking back on as the kick up the back side we needed

However I do feel as a fan base we need to get a fkn grip, stop dwelling and fkn crying over spilt milk, we are where we are and a brand new league season begins in over a week, let's back the club to the hilt for the campaign ahead, as it won't be all plain sailing even if we get to where we want come the end, we have enough people ready to kick us as it is, let's show the support from the off vs ICT, a win would be a great result as they will be strong again and be coming Aug revenge in mind, getting back in the Eddie t and creating a positive atmosphere

This is what i dont get its the same type of football that JMac played at end of his tenure and we have had multiple managers doing the same. Is it pressure from the stands that creates this negative type of play? If so surely one manager would have the balls to play attacking. I believe this would galvanise the support more. Years of rotten football from Mixu, Ray, Csaba and now Robbie has created a terrible feeling amopngst the fans

That's not strictly fair mate - There's also the aimless blooter in the general direction of a 5ft 6" forward up against two 6ft 4" hammer throwers and the misdirected punt straight out the park too (That one really puts the fear into the opposition)

    Rewind and repeat ad infinitum.

I like the league cup matches being played now.

Creates some interest ‘pre season’ and should get us up to speed for season.

The league cup does matter. This doesn’t diminish playing now - actually means these games get attention and televised.

Part timers have worked all summer. We should beat them. It is unacceptable - the TA statement says that

I like league cup format but problem is united have been awful last few seasons

No results is all that matters in this division

When stoke says we are playing the same as second half of last season with all due respect he is talking keech, we won the vast majority of our games second half of last season and had we started the season with Neilson would have likely edged County

So he needs to get us into that kinda form this season, hopefully from the off, doesn't matter in what style it's done, I'll worry about style when we are back in the top flight competing for the top 4-6

Hibs were brutal style wise and won the league, County were not great to watch and won it, it's about results so if he continues the same results wise we generally have had in his tenure then we'll be fine

East fife was a shock as its definitely not the kind of result you'd expect under Neilson at all, especially at Tannadice where our results have been very good under him so let's see what happens in the next couple months with positive backing, we can still get off to a flyer.

    For Shedka...
    29.12 Alloa 2-1 United
    05.01 United 1-1 Partick
    23.02 Falkirk 1-1 United
    09.03 Partick 2-1 United
    30.03 United 1-2 QOS
    04.05 Morton 1-1 United

13 points dropped there alone before the league was decided
