I believe there's a reason why the Chinese club paid Rafa 12 million a season. Very possibly they paid him what he was asking at Newcastle.
However it's all speculation and this one is mine.

For me it shows Rafa up in a very bad light. It also shows he's not highly thought of, money wise, to be touted by the top European clubs.
