When we had discussion about it last night none of my friends said it didn't work and they all don't like the idea of it.
So for there to be no critisicm from them must mean it worked pretty well![]()

Seems to have worked well this weekend?
I think the Sterling 'offside' goal was ridiculous and I haven't seen it yet but the Wolves disallowed goal sounded harsh...but these are faults with the laws rather than the goal review system itself. Did anyone watch a live game where it was used/needed...want to know if it slowed the game down or hindered goal celebrations?

There's no doubt that VAR will make the game more fair, if used correctly, without grey areas suddenly thrown into the mix and too much time being taken to solve issues.
I still think it could be made much easier in use if common sense is applied.
For instance: offsides.
If a goal is scored and the ref and pitch side officials accept it as a goal which then goes to VAR where it takes more than a few seconds to determine whether it was onside or off, then hand the original call back to the ref, because, if scrutiny on screen is not clear then the ref has to have his call accepted...same goes for being called offside.
As far as a goal is concerned, the very same scenario should be employed. If the ref thinks it was a goal and VAR is immediately unsure then don't check it anymore, just hand the jurisdiction to the ref and it means an almost instant decision. Obviously the same applies to ruling a goal out.
I think VAR is deliberately being over complicated.
If you just go with the referees call on close decisions you may as well not bother with VAR at all. The whole idea is to review the incidents and come up with the correct outcome
It works well in other sports as the players playing in them respect the ref/umpire and the final decision. In football they wont accept it,the modern footballer has to have something to moan about.I mean come on,how can you argue with video evidence.
There’s a lot of griping going on due to people set in their ways.
Sterling was JUST off side and the goal would definitely have stood without VAR.
Newsflash: he was offside.
The Wolves goal would never have been disallowed for handball if it wasn’t for VAR.
Newsflash: it was hand ball.
Rather than complaining now, people should be fretting over how many championships and trophies have been decided over the years solely due to officiating mistakes.
VAR is perfect? No. It needs adapting IMO. Take the var decision away from the ref on the pitch and give it to the video referee and give the latter 30 seconds to decide. No decision by 30 secs, then the on field ref’s decision stands.
