    Having conducted an online search it looks like Muir of Ord is in the Highlands somewhere. So any of you local lads ken where I'm on about? It was a fairly big pond on a back road between Peterculter and Mason Lodge. There used to be swans settled in the pond, could of sworn it was Muir of Ord but computer says no. Ord dam maybe?

    I've not been there for about 45 years mind you. Google maps shows no ponds so maybe it dried up or got built over

    That seems like a description of Robbie Rossie's Loch? Out near Drum. I've not been there since 1974 but it was heavily forested back then. Plenty of trees for swan's nests.

    Apparently, the collective noun for a group of swans in flight is a 'wedge'.
