The club are seriously risking apathy setting in amongst supporters even at this early stage of the season. Fair enough we haven't got the depth in midfield but all the other position are amply covered. There is no excuse for square pegs in round holes. Why aren't Cavare, J. Williams and Pinillos be our regular full backs barring injury. Why is Styles overlooked if Mowatt or Mcgeehan is injured? Why fork out for Schmidt and not play him despite injury to Woodrow?
That's all down to Stendel for me. Managers don't walk on water. Last season was last season and I see evidence he's losing the plot already.
If he isn't happy don't stick Halme on up front walk away and let someone else do the job who isn't sulking. We had this in 2017/18 with Heckingbottom and look how that turned out.
Spot on Ponte 👍
Well its sarnding like they want rid of Cavare ? Maybe this weekend , for how much though ? Fust offer that comes in maybe , what valuation would you put on him ? 500k minimum for me , just a neet art fo this lot , Grove Street ? Moor like Shambles Street nar darn theer
5 games in and frustration already kicking in. Lets be honest, wi this transfer policy it wo always gonna be a struggle initially. Once bitten twice shy in this division. It may come good, it may not. Time will tell. I defy any head coach here at oakwell to make a situation like ours succeed straight off at championship level.
Questions need to be asked of the owners recruitment if we are in deep sh1t come January. Obviously they haven't learned a bloody thing from 2017/18. Head coach appears to be the fall guy as always. Sorry to say this guys and it hurts me to say it because you guys put your money where your mouth is year in year art but lets be frank here. Do the owners put their money weer the marth is like your do?
On the whole they get minimal criticism and I fail to see why. Our supporters arguably know more than most supporters in this entire country what's required at this level to not only survive but also to progress. Jeezyouess, wiv all sin mooar 2nd tier football than any football club in the country ffs! Wi not fecking daftHowever, we have very inexperienced (within English football) foreign owners with a distinct lack of knowledge regarding 2nd tier football trying to tell us that they believe their methods will prevail. I dont think so somehow.
To me and as things stand, it looks like the owners are just laughing their ballax off whilst spinning the fans a yarn. They prey on your loyalty and take your season ticket money every season while they line their pockets selling ivry player and sundry who's worth any kind of profit. They then tell us that 'terms couldn't be agreed' etc, the player leaving 'dint want to be here anymooar' and it was 'in the best interests of the club' that they move on blah blah blah..... They then turn their attentions to their next potential profit making transfer target.
No emotion comes into it with them, It's purely business and nothing more. 'Too good to be true' to quote Paul Conway.
The club will simply struggle to move forwards at championship level while ever the owners carry on with this mentality. Are they bothered if we're in league 1 or the championship? Personally I dont think they are provided that they keep on making a profit.
I hope they totally prove me wrong. Let me make that clear. Al be the first to eat humble pie but seriously lads, there has to be serious reservations. Ask yourself realistically if we will ever keep the core of any decent squad together in the foreseeable future? If the answer is 'no' then ask yourself how this football club will ever take the next step forward whilst adopting an age restricted transfer policy and owners who sell at every opportunity.
That's a very good post Pass , more or less sums up all our feelings , whether you attend or not , there's nowt to apologise abart either, we pay our money and expect betta ? We dunt ask for much more , to be competitive in this league needs some nowse , i don't think this lot have it , av gon too long to geeup ont club nar , it came very close last year tho , not sure I want this yo yo Ing ennymoor , we nivva see the end product of the players brort thru , they are tekkin pi ss , for how much longer remains to be seen ,![]()
Good post Pass.
Hoss iz reyt in saying it's been the best transfer window ever--for the owners that is. They have stocked up with a dozen youngsters, four or five of whom will be sold for good money in two years having two years left on their contract. That's how they define "success".
There is no vision of retaining our best players and building a team over three/ four years. We know if a player shows promise he will be sold as a matter of policy.
They sold their ownership of OGC Nice after just three years after pillakin the Nice fans they were there for the long term. They made £50 million minimum out of that, possibly as much as £90 million depending where transfer surpluses went. My prediction is they will sell up at Barnsley after this new group of players is sold in two years.
I'll be honest I'm hating life back in the championship already , I only stuck it art on saturday because my conscience wouldn't allow me to go at half time but I wanted to head straight for the Dove beer garden and have a few pints , that's what my head said anyway .
Not really because of a poor 45 minutes but more of years of constant struggle culminating in yet another home game witnessing us totally out of our depth .
Every championship campaign is the same , been like this since 2006 , struggle , struggle and yet more struggle .
The two seasons we avoided the drop comfortably the club managed to feck itself up and pyss managers off so that we were back to struggle the very next season .
Our successful seasons are in League One these days , that tells you the true picture , two play off victories and an automatic promotion plus the Johnston's Paints Trophy .
We are a very good League One club and out of our depth at this level .
The modern world of english football is the real reason because we've competed comfortably for the majority of our history at this level .
This is why the older ones amongst us find it so frustrating .
The only way to sustain championship football is to spend far more than you have coming in , far more and to be honest that's not something I find comfortable at all , it ain't worth it , full of over paid journeymen playing for clubs whose fans are all total arrogant w@nkers anyway .
Not a scrap of bother in The Dove last season , proper fans enjoying a drink and a natter , Fulham roll up on opening day and it's an edgy atmosphere with glasses getting smashed in the beer garden .
Biggest mistake this club makes is getting promoted back to the championship , everything's perfectly fine on a number of levels until that happens .
This thread sums up why i've spent £300 and stopped going.
I thought you and Hecky had kissed and made up Ponty, have you had another lovers tiff ?.
I knew what sort of season this was going to be, and Im not going to let it worry me anymore, theres other more important things in life. The owners have sold us down the river without a paddle, and if I was Stendel Id consider walking away. I dont blame the players, they can only do what they are capable of, they cant do miracles and it will be one if we do stay up this season.
The only hope is for there to be 3 teams who are even worse than us after 46 games, its simples!!.
