No. I've known him and his brother for over thirty years.

Was he born on 24 March 1966? I think I know him as well.

Off the top of my head Professor Giulianotti joined the School in November 2011 from Durham University, where he was Professor of Sociology, and at different times Head of Sociology/Criminology and Head of the School of Applied Social Sciences.

He completed his MA (Honours, First Class), MLitt and PhD in the Department of Sociology at the University of Aberdeen, and took up his first academic post there as a Research Assistant (1990), followed by a Lectureship (1995), Senior Lectureship (1999), and Readership (2005).

Professor Giulianotti is a member of the REF2021 sub-panel 24 (Sport and Exercise Sciences, Leisure and Tourism), a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS), and a Fellow of the RSA.

He has been a visiting or guest professor at many universities and institutes, which recently have included Harvard University, International Olympic Academy, Johan Cruyff Institute, Seoul National University, University of Southeast Norway, Tsukuba University, and the University of Warsaw. He likes watching old episodes of Bullseye and finished runners up on the Krypton Factor.

I got to write a 3000 word essay on Topophila in his 4th year Sociology class so wrote about the feelings and emotions brought on by attending a dons game at Pittodrie in my 4th year Sociology. Classes were mainly football chat with the odd discussion around shopping centres and how they disorient us and pump smells in to keep us there.....think Vegas hotels and trying to find your way oot! Any volunteers on " Ibrox; a counteraction to Topophila"

I remember when he got a clout in the star & garter because it was believed he'd been too complimentary about the hibs hooligans in a paper he wrote up. He went to Belgium with them for an Anderlecht game. One of his sociologist pals, Gary Armstrong I think it was, a Sheffield United fan came up quite a few times and fair enjoyed his sessions up here.

His brother Kev was more into music, mostly punk, than fitba but he is also a red.

Which one of them used to cut about dressed as a Russ Abbot character?

I'm not familiar with the works of Russ Abbot but I can't remember Rich wearing anything particularly odd and Kev was a punk.

Is there a punk character on Russ Abott?

It was usually the SeeYouJimmy guy but sometimes the matador or bond figure. He did bear a resemblance but i thought the guys name was Derek? Was there a third brother? Perhaps they were cousins or something their old man or cousin used to restore furniture in a workshop opposite The Jug.

Going back a while mind you

Only Rich and Kev, they might of had a sister they kept hidden from me but there was only the two loons. Don't know what his old man did but the family home was Westhill. Remember a drunken incident at his flat in printfield involving a knife and a wine bottle that left me scarred for life.

    Good days 🍺
