Ah... Langold Lake. My mum and dad used to take us there for picnics when I was a mere nipper. I couldn't even swim at that time but used to gaze in wonderment at the nutters diving off the top platform. I had actually forgot about that until your post.

The new baths were, I think, 9ft deep in the deep end, so jumping off the top block you didn't make the bottom, although we did swim down to retrieve a rubber brick.

A few mates and me used to go to the sauna at the new baths before matches, because it was "healthy". In and out of the sauna and shower, a read of the paper lying on a bed, whilst scoffing a bacon sarnie. Even with the sarnie you could lose half a stone by the end of the session - and put it back on in the pub before the game
