I would say McAuley was one of our most astute signings we made since the likes of Regis and Cunningham and before that, some of the mid-late 60's team. He appeared a journeyman before joining us but I believe he was without doubt one of the best central defenders playing in the PL over his first five seasons as a Baggie. He was so consistent season after season and scored some very important goals. He deserves to be remembered in the highest esteem and I wish him the very best in his new career.

Well.....one thing is for sure...with all our differences about all things none football and even all things football....we all recognize an individual who loved his trade, loved representing The Albion and truly appreciated how fortunate he was to be playing football at the very highest standard so late in his career...because he exuded contentment with his lot. To my knowledge...he never did anything less then his very best...and for that...even when he fell short....it was easily accepted by the paying fans...cause fans know when someone cares about their club....they can see through the badge kissing lie, that so many get away with today.....
GMAC was a modern player with old footballing ethics.......that is why he shines brightly at the Albion...they are qualties rarely sen in players today.......
