    UEFA Champions League Matchday 3

    Plenty of goals tonight.

    Sterling Hat-Trick, Mbappe Hat-Trick.

I must confess, I never dreamed sterling would reach the level he has now. I thought there was no hope for him regards to his finishing. He's really come on and fair play to him. I used to be one of those who would slam him and say he's missed the one on one before he's even taken the shot.

Mbappe is something else. He will win multiple Ballon D'Or's. He's still only 20 years old which is insane!

You've always been a big fan of your European footy Benny, so good on ya.

I'm not sure what I can add as I don't want to sidetrack your thread into a 'how long until we get back there' etc discussion. I actually don't watch a huge amount of football (not us currently ) other than MotD as I'm always either climbing or kicking people in the head when the European matches are on.

I think Mbappe even did his hattrick in 30 mins and within that time also provided an assist. He's truly amazing. To have been such a big, important influence aged 18 in a France team that won the World Cup is a big achievement in itself. I think he won a lot of hearts that summer 'cause he looks so happy playing and does it with a lot of elegance. Extremely good player.

Weren't we linked with him during the latest takeover farce?

You can side-track it as much as you want, it is a Newcastle forum after all.

If new owners come in and invest, Europe is not guaranteed given how competitive the league is nowadays. My prediction on when we'll be back in the Champions Leauge is in 15 years time. Ashley will have to have been gone by then.

But you never know, we could be back there sooner. I still can't believe we had a chance of Champions League on the last day of the season under Alan Pardew in 2012

He reminds me of the Real Ronaldo, the pace, strength, his 1st touch always setting him up for the goal and he has to be the cleanest striker of a football I have ever seen, he just catches the ball perfectly with all his strikes and a lot of them are 1st time shots. Such good quick feet too.

Aye I think we were linked with him a while back. Proaganda/Clickbait

This Haaland kid for Leipzig is the real deal. He’ll be in the Premier League next season for sure.

Leipzig has got 4-5 players that will become international stars sooner rather than later, no question. It's an interesting club in many ways, albeit not my favourite type of club.

Sterling has hit levels i really didn't think he would - so fair play to him.

I think most of that has to be the Pep influence and then the playing with good players constantly.

All in the name of art, honestly.
