Just to add a fact from personal experience.
My mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer about 6 months ago and, as a result, had about 20cm of her large intestine removed in Lancaster Royal Infirmary on the NHS. The treatment, staff, organisation, communication, surgeon, pre and post surgery care, and whole procedure was absolutely world class. I accompanied the procedure from start to finish and I was gob smacked. I can assure anyone that the NHS is far from "in tatters".
People also need to stop cherry picking their points in the economy. With our exit from the EU, thank God that the pound is weak. I would be worried if it was strong seeing as it is imperative that we now increase our exports to markets outside the EU.
One procedure at one hospital does not tell any real story.
They partly closed Hartlepool hospital and north tees hospital is a shambles where my wife's mother received her care for the big C. We've spent long enough in that one to see just how badly run it is and half the staff don't seem to have a clue. Many are on banks for cover.
The NHS is going down the nick and likely deliberate so we end up paying like America. Making out like we get it all free when taxes pay for it all, yet we're made to feel like we're getting stuff as some kind of privilege.
What do mean by the HHS going to gaol, and that ‘many are on banks’?????
So the NHS is poor compared to what? Other countries’ free health services? The way it used to be? (I can’t remember a time that it hasn’t been heavily criticized).
Complaining about the NHS has become a national past time. There is a lot of good about it. It needs to be well managed and, yes, richer people should pay for their health care. It would be ideal if it was free for all but the cost of this would be staggering.
The N.H.S. is in large parts run down and in need of restructuring. It is grossly under staffed and under funded and to my mind a lot of this is a creeping "privatisation" by huge amounts of staff costing double by coming from agencies.
Why can't the N.H.S. be it's own agency.
Then there is the cost of drugs and medication going sky high and fortunes going to the U.S.A.
Isn't there a case for our government funding research for us in this country then selling abroad.
Having said all that about the N.H.S. short comings it is still up with the best in the world and the dedication of the majority of the staff is truly remarkable.
Well, it might be a one liner, but I'll be voting Tory, because my family all work for a living. That's it really.
