    Outfield players going in goal

Man City had use an outfield player last night in goal, when they used both goalkeepers.
This brought back memories for me, from Southampton away 4th rd replay 68. Osbourne got knocked out, but carried on for the ist half, our trainer John Jarman stood behind the goal telling Ossie which way the ball was coming from. 2nd half Graham Williams come out in Ossie's shirt, the sleeves were about 5" too long, he was only a little un but played a blinder.
I went to every round and the final, apart from the Pompey away and Colchester at home we had that bit of luck in every game

I remember losing 7-0 at Ipswich with Osbourne unable to do much with a damaged shoulder,I don’t remember us subbing him.

I do remember a match where Colin West the centre forward took over in goal during the late 80’s or early 90’s.......useless t w a t should’ve stayed there.

In my last ever Sunday League game I took over in goal and although we lost I pulled off one truly remarkable save.

I thought I was beaten by a 25 yard effort as it went past me but I reached backward and managed to fingertip it onto the underside of the bar.

As I lay prone on the ground their player walked past me laughing as he tapped the rebound into the net 😔

I hung up my boots and gloves at nearly 43 after that game.

One of the best performances from a non goalie was from Vinnie Jones, check out some of the saves he made that day

I enjoyed that....he was quite good in goal.
Had to play in goal once in a cup game...we won 1-0...I produced a string of fine saves. At one point we had a real goal mouth scramble going on and I forgot I was the keeper and began dribbling out of goal before hearing a shout from someone. Always remember throughout the game their manager shouting to keep shooting as I was not their real keeper...
Our manager was quite impressed with my ability but I said no to that position....it was a freezing cold bone hard frosty pitch which we played on and I never warmed up proper...
