I would agree that it is a governments responsibility to keep taxes as low as possible for the reasons you've given. That's not the issue. Where I think we'd disagree is that I also think that it is a government's responsibility also to fund essential services adequately so that society functions well. You don't seem to disagree that services are not well funded, and you'd like something to be done, but you aren't really giving us any idea of what you think really should be done? That's where I think we differ.
Well done for noticing that your assumption that I am opposed to increases in taxes was wrong. I've signalled it often enough, but your preducices and belief in your own moral superiority blinded you.

Your blindness extends to your suggestion that I don't offer any ideas. I have suggested a policy of honesty, it is you has no solution other than selling unattainable and job destroying 'somebody else will pay' promises on the doorstep on the basis that people won't buy the truth.
