Casper, I thought Labour were talking rubbish but my 30 year old son who understands these things better than me told me I was completely wrong and that the UK's current broadband setup was years behind our competitors and we were looking at 20 years to catch up. He thinks Labour's policy is not only sensible but essential to our competitiveness.

...ah the old level playing field argument again which I always argue aint...some folks get a leg up, some don't...which one's tend not to as much that, my dear boy, is the question?

There are a lot of people who have been brought up on a culture of claiming benefits. Teachers see the parents daily (I hear this on a regular basis).

How do you stop this? You have to stop incentivising people to have more children. There are some real scum bags who seem to like having plenty of children. It really isn't difficult not to have one.

I don't have a Degree in Economics, much more savvy people than me out there.
Labour looked at Broadband back in the 80's and did nothing about it. Previous Tory & Labour governments could have made progress,
The sticking point is the Part - Nationalisation, it won't go down well with BT employees that own shares, they will have to be compensated, Pensions will also be a problem.
Boris threw his arms up in the air and trashed it,
Swinson said something like Unaffordable dream.
A guy from BT the CEO gave a balanced view and said the figure would be £40M.
Shares were guestimated at between £12B - £25B
Total £65B, plus yearly maintenance.
Is it affordable £££ ?

Balance that up with HS2 -Delayed, over budget, last figures were £88B and rising to possibly £100B.
Make your own mind up w endun whether we can afford it.
Would like Labour to drop the Utilities Nationalisation, walk before you can run..

Forgot to add it a 10yr project, not done and dusted in 12months..

It’s a myth myth in their little world.

If they can save one ‘poor’ soul but a 1000 decent souls get trodden on, it’s a case of bring it on.

Why?

It’s 20% slower on average than the USA and Germany.

It’s above average on a global scale but it should be better. Believe me, I know.

It’s perfectly adequate. Better than adequate where it’s really needed.

My issue is that anyone coming on here reading this stuff will think that fiddling the system is only carried out by the poor while completely forgetting to mention fiddles carried out by the wealthy.. I am sure that you would agree with me that wealthy people fiddle the system.
Bit of balance please is all I ask. Plus not all people are scroungers which is also a balanced way of putting things. Its a bit like the grooming argument isn't it. You cant paint people with the same brush, there are many more deserving people than undeserving people. This is important to be mentioned in my view.

Certain posters on here tend to push tax fiddles etc under the carpet when I mention them as though this does not happen.

Yes we should target all. Why is it when someone says we should do something about benefits the counter is 'well what about the rich people who are cheating the system's and vice verca. People who are aligned to one particular party seem to think only one of these can be done.

If people free their minds they may realise that we could do both.

Not everyone can be tarred with the same brush but it's quite obvious that there are many people that could have a barrow full of tar chucked at them.

One thing we haven’t really seen yet is the “smear campaign” where one or more of the key players gets accused of something ie Boris/ Corbyn/ Farage screwed my cat in 1974.

Something easy to make up, completely untrue but good enough to start a media storm.
