In fairness not many of our big buys have been that great for us over the years

    *Oliver Burke £15 million
    *Nacer Chadli £13 million
    *José Salomón Rondón £12 million
    *Jay Rodriguez £12 million
    *Brown Ideye £10 million
    *Jake Livermore £10 million
    *Stéphane Sessègnon £6.6 million
    *Victor Anichebe £6 million
    *Shane Long £5 million
    *Borja Valero £4.7 million

Our best buys have been for smaller fees but fitted into a team or specific role, Mulumbu, Koumas, Dorrans, Gera, Koren, Jonas, McAuley, Morrison, Brunt, Hegazi etc to mention players of recent times let alone all of our bargain buys of days gone bye

Another hat trick again last night. That Putin could definitely spot a talent!

Great comment from Gareth MacAuley last night on Sky Sports when asked about Gnabry when he was with us.

Gareth said Gnabry showed what a great talent he was everyday in training but he didn’t think he was tall enough for Pulis and therefore he never was given a run in the team. Tongue in cheek no doubt but interesting.

Who gives a fooook, he wasn't our player. Wenger let him go to Germany for a pittance does that make him a bad manager, or SAF for letting Pogba go to Juve?

Correct as usual Blood. There are always differing circumstances why a player can be great when they move on. Newcastle supporters loved Rondon and to be fair he was decent for them. Sawyers who is excellent started with us, but gained experience and was fully developed elsewhere and now he's the best thing since sliced bread. Nobody rated Chris Wood when with us but would drive him back myself over Zohore and Austin.

Meant to say - there were some who did not rate him but he’s proved his worth at other clubs!! Wish he was with us now!!

I’m glad someone is paying attention 68.

From the night when we won 3-0 at Peterborough with a 17 year old Wood running the show I knew he was a quality player.

He made two that night fore Lukewarm Moore.......yes,TWO for that t w a t!

We made the mistake of become “Bigtime” in our Premier League days and instead of doing a “Chelsea” and letting players like him grow at other clubs on loan old tightwad Peace couldn’t wait to cash in and take a quick million.

Really bad business which we’ve repeated on numerous young players in the last decade.
