Ultimately, we want to see them play for the first team, get 50 to 100 games under their belts and then further their careers with a big-money move. To do so, they need to keep learning from the players and coaches around them each day, and within the individual progression plans we have for each of them."

Thoroughly approve of this model, although ultimately you’d like to get to the stage where players want to stay for longer because they’re winning trophies here.

In the meantime three big games and the January window to come. It’s a great time to be an Arab, although I’ll be happier still at 5-00pm if we get three points today :-)
United have always been a selling Club from selling some of the Scandinavians through to Andy Gray, Raymond Stewart, Richard Gough etc etc. I have no quibble with that. The issue is when you sell far too many, far too quickly. It ended up getting Hibs relegated 5 years ago and of course as we all well know led directly to our own relegation three years ago. So long as the management have a sensible, sustainable model that avoids past mistakes then we’ll be fine. But the priority should ALWAYS be the strength of the first team as that’s what the Snake forgot - no amount of money can compensate for weakening your starting XI to such an extent that you end up struggling on the pitch.

Or even get you relegated.
