Worth remembering when shanks helped us beat Arbroath (just) that took us top.

McCall then left and mentioned it might be harder to do so if Ayr were top - they would have been if we hadn’t beaten Arbroath then.

Things have changed a bit since then but just shows how quickly things can turn around.

Would be great to get a win and a fine performance on Saturday 🤞

    Excellent OP James. Nicely put.

This season it all just feels right. The owners, the staff, the players and the fans all pulling together with a real spirit. The dark days of ST Mixu and Csaba are starting to feel like a long time ago. So yes, I think we'll see it through this time.

Tough game Saturday and I think we'll draw for the first time. I'm going 2-2

The thing is, with the gap that we've created at the top teams like Ayr can't come to Tannadice and look for a draw. If they've got any thought of catching us then these are games they must win. This could help us by making the game more open.

That’s quite correct Terry and additionally as the season progresses we may (with emphasis on may ) see teams in the relegation fight or play off battle ‘writing off’ games against us by ‘resting’ their more important players in advance of say, more important six pointer games against key rivals the following week. We’re getting close to that tipping point, but and we keep stressing this, it’s all about one game at a time as despite the Funsters’ constant predictions we’ve won hee haw yet.

Ayr will be a tricky test as they still have some decent players who are capable of being dangerous. however this isnt a mccall ayr team. the confidence and swagger the mccall team seemed to have isnt there anymore. Kerr cant seem to get any sort of momentum with them hence why they have fallen into the pack with everyone else.

watched highlights of their games v Ict and Alloa. Inverness should have won by more as they had all the chances. Against alloa they looked like the more dominant side but alloa could have easily snatched an equaliser at the end with a few half chances and one massive chance at the death.

United's form since Queens game has been fantastic but it cant last forever so im cautious. i thought we'd drop points at morton or arbroath so to go into two home games where we have been unbeatable on the back of the run weve been on makes me think that we should win these 2 coming up but still expecting a bump in the road coming soon.

Just out of interest, I checked back to last year and following a 1-1 draw up in Inverness in game 17, we were lying on 29 points some 13 (just what we lead by currently) off top with a massively reduced GD. Proof if ever it was needed of how we’ve improved. Brilliant stuff.

Not quite james, no one has had anything like 42 pts after 17 games since Hearts got 47 under Neilson in 2014/15

Ross County after 17 had a record of 9-6-2 and sat on 33 pts, then won 8 of their next 10 before losing to us in March while we transitioned in January.
