good point M, every team approaches us differently, we need s awee bit of time to see what their game plan is then we get going

I knew the result but just watched the match as live.
Criticism of this team right now is a risky business and can get you a cyber lynching but I'm going to say it, that first half was woeful from us. Yes Ayr couldn't do anything with all their neat possession and yes we never looked in danger. But I honestly felt the way our boys approached that first 45 it was almost as if they're starting to think they just have to turn up for the 3 points. No pace, no aggression, a lot of players unwilling to go to ground to make tackles, instead just tracking the opposition player and hoping it turns out ok. We didn't look like league leaders and created zero moves and gave the ball away so easy.
But, out of nothing Stanton sidefoots in, made it look very easy, a lot of players would have hit the defender or keeper with that. And so we went on from there. I hope Robbie laid into them at half time because if we start like that against the Fun we will concede first.
Overall 4-0 could have been more, looked very easy in the end, great result, clean sheet again and on we go. But I'm wanting 90 minutes of passion and a wee bit of quality, not 50.

    Tin helmet fitted for incoming

Edit to add, great goal from Harkes, want to see more of that from him when it matters in a game, eg 0-0

Absolutely spot on assessment. Started game too passively & combined with ayrs crisp movement & passing we looked poor. But they didnt do too much for all that possession & whilst we had some uncomfortable moments we now seem able to get results in a variety of ways. Def need to be more at it right from k.o. in derby

I wonder if there was a wee element of having one eye on Friday night in the first half. Second half was much better and I would also add that we now look a fit team. We go for ninety minutes and really grind teams down.

Nobody is being lynched. If people want to find things to complain about after a four nil victory which is the latest in a run of nine straight wins, 7 clean sheets, 20 goals scored and only 2 conceded, nine wins out of nine at home too, then crack on. I, on the other hand remember the Czaba Lazlo days.

As one of the moaners, those last 5 words are exactly why i cannot accept poor displays. Some memories go back further though, and my fear about our traditional January meltdown is still to be dispelled! This isnt helped by East Fife, Ayr A, Alloa A, and QotS A, and even though we have just had the amazing quarter i wanted, there are still poor displays in there!

End of January and i hope to have my fear put to bed!
